We Are Marshfield 2017MHS Seniors once again gave up a school day
to work in the community. Clift's DeskIn June, 2014, CRL was contacted via email by Mr. Steven Huyser of Lansing Michigan. Mr Huyser purchased an antique secretary about 20 years ago in Charlotte, North Carolina. When he contacted a cabinet maker to make some needed repairs to the desk, they noticed there was an inscription on the back of one of the drawers. "Clift Rodgers Quincy Dec 20th, 1835" Mr. Huyser offered the secretary to our library so Trustee President Gordon Leach contacted the Marshfield Historical Society. They located a sample of Clift's signature in an attempt to authenticate the piece. The secretary is now in the CRL's front lobby. |
